Northern Monk - Travel Notes, International IPA

Marketed as an 'International IPA', this collab from Northern Monk and travel guide giants Lonely Planet contains ingredients from five different continents, with a fruit-forward focus on mango and acai berries.

Though the packaging feels a little dated circa 2005, don't be fooled. This combination is a resounding success, immediately upon cracking open a deep, dank aroma is released alongside a hazy amber pour with a blooming white head.

Mango certainly takes the fourfold giving it a strong body, with an accompanying decent hit of pineapple and grapefruit. The acai berries may be a little lost in the mix, but it's likely these are here for a naturally induced, and restrained bitterness.

Its this emphasis on freshness that really sets it apart from the crowd. A crisp IPA may be easier than not to stumble into, but combine it with an impressive complexity and these components and it becomes a certified and somewhat unique, summer hit.
