Swift One // Burnt Mill - Green Path
Though IPA’s from the opposite shore dominate the marketplace right now this West Coast-inspired beauty (bought in the consistently great Clapton Craft) quickly found a way into our beery hearts. With a restrained malt bill, and only a slight bitterness, there's a largely singular focus here - sweet hops, hops, hops.
Citra and Mosaic clearly take the forefront making for a beautifully fresh, pithy citrus profile. There’s tropical notes too, primarily of ripe pineapple and mango alongside the ever-so-slightly caramel/biscuity mouthfeel that saves this from verging on merely hop soup - 3.8, UnTappd, you are wrong. This is soft, warm, delicate brilliance that you'll just never understand.
Though (somehow) you might call it a throwback in 2018 it stands to reason that this delectable beer might just be one of the best of the year. You could even say Burnt Mill are still on fire... We'll show ourselves out.
