Swift One // Lervig x Cloudwater - There's A Beer In My Fridge, And I Need A Drink
"Swift One" // NOUN. British, informal. An alcoholic drink (often, but not necessarily, a half-pint of beer) consumed quickly, usually of mythical singularity.
It's not every day we stumble upon a DDH Rye IPA, especially from two breweries of this calibre, so picking this up (in a Whole Foods of all places) was a real treat. It's also worth noting this is one of the first uses of Lervig's HopGun, a piece of futuristic, Star Wars-esque tech we saw for ourselves at Cloudwater HQ.
With a hazy hit of piney caramel and spicy papaya it seems to have paid real dividends as these triple fired hops create the perfect spin on the well established, dank Imperial. Then again, these days 7.2% doesn’t really qualify this one as a true double.
But, that’s no issue here. There’s not exactly a shortage of flavour - bags of juicy melon and peach also shine through in a thick, creamy drink that we would legitimately constitute as a breakfast brew. Surprisingly light, well balanced, and invigorating - this is a seasonal stunner, SEO BE DAMNED.
