Swift One // Verdant x Duration - If We Must
"Swift One" // NOUN. British, informal. An alcoholic drink (often, but not necessarily, a half-pint of beer) consumed quickly, usually of mythical singularity.
With future farmhouse champions Duration teaming up with some of the best in the game, this was always likely to be a stunning beer. Though, we perhaps weren’t quite ready for this ingeniously juicy combo.
By fermenting this Double IPA on white grape juice there’s a long, silky mouthfeel alongside the ripe, vibrant peach and pineapple flavours. There's an ever so slight hint of grapey-tartness too, but it's more of a backdrop than a leading flavour.
What’s still more impressive is the thick, foamy body. It’s almost opaque, pulling together each strain of wonderful flavour with a warming, savoury finish. Indeed, there's a familiar (often unwelcoming) onion-like flavour associated with Imperial IPAs - yet here it's far from off-putting, it's just another of the multitude of velvety, wondorous flavours incased within. This is a brew to die for, there's simply no mistaking it.
